Buteyko is a breathing technique that was developed in Russia in the 1950s by Dr Konstantin Buteyko. He studied breathing patterns of patients who had breathing problems; he discovered that by correcting the breathing pattern and reducing the breathing rate, patients recovered more quickly.

Once you’ve had an initial consultation with Physio-Life, we will then be able to conﬁrm whether the Buteyko Breathing Technique is suitable for you. The breathing programme consists of approximately ﬁve supervised sessions of respiratory physiotherapy.
For the Buteyko Breathing Technique to work you will need to commit to it and carry out the exercises on your own at least three times per day. The following conditions can be treated using this breathing technique:
